

Karen Locher passed away peacefully in Auburn, CA on January 28, 2014. Karen was born to Arnst and Mary Sather in Auburn, CA on December 6, 1922. She attended Vallejo High, Placer Junior College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from University of California, Berkeley. Karen worked at Mare Island Naval Base during the war years. In Sept. 1949 she began her career at PG & E where she worked until Jan. of 1987 and retired as the secretary to the Division Manager. She held offices and was active in many organizations such as Soroptimist, Business and Professional Woman of Auburn, Sierra Doll Club, The Historical Society of Auburn, and PSEA. She had many happy years married to her husband, Milden Locher. She was respected and loved by many.
She is survived by her step daughters, Kathy Locher and Diane Bateson, and many cousins and beloved friends.
Donations can be made in her memory to her church, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Auburn.
A Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 9 to 11 a.m. with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel of the Hills, 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at New Auburn Cemetery.
