Such a gentleman who loved being outdoors and enjoyed music and dancing , we are all gonna miss you Michael! Rest In Peace !

Thoughts and prayers go out to the O’Reilly family, the extended family and anyone touched by the loss of Michael.  

Michael’s trips to New York were always adventurous  whether he was visiting his old neighborhood in Inwood, museums in Manhattan, watching with pride while his son “young Michael” (as we call him in NY) was shooting three pointers at the ESPN zone, or getting frustrated as he was trying to teach me basketball at Smith Clove park.  
Of course never really knowing where my car was parked in NYC, or the “friends” we made one dark and rainy night right outside my car window, will always be a favorite story.

To his son Michael, as you mourn your father’s passing, know that your family in New York will always have you in our thoughts and prayers.

My name is Lou.  
I met Mike six years ago when I bought the house next door and installed a low ranch style fence 20 feet into his property.  I didn't know and  he never said anything.   I discovered the property line, removed the 20 feet of fence, and apologized.  This began a very slow and sometimes tense "neighborly" relationship.

I learned that, at that time, for approximately 12 years Mike had been working alone on the six acre forest area bordering our homes to make it safe from potential fires.  He truly loved his home and the forested area.   I was very impressed by his fortitude and tenaciousness to improve our neighborhood.  

Mike was a bit abrasive and difficult at times, but I learned that he truly had a really big heart and would always be there if anyone needed help.   He was forward thinking and would introduced new ideas (whether they were right, wrong or unattainable) to try and make our community better.  

Our community lost a precious neighbor.

I lost a good friend.







We send our sincere condolenses to Michael's family - to our cousins, his brothers  and sisters and their children and especially to his son Michael.
