Robert Stewart Swanton, 74, passed away on December 30, 2020 after a four-month hard-fought battle with an acute illness. Despite the health challenges, he had inner strength and kept his faith that there would be better days ahead. He is free of all earthly pain, and now resides in his heavenly home with the Lord.
Robert Swanton was predeceased by his son, Alden Peter Swanton. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marilou Swanton, his twin sister Linda McFadden, his daughter Patty Dessling and son-in-law Andrew Dessling, and his two beautiful grandchildren, Madison and Carter Dessling. He also leaves behind his three-year-old fox red Labrador “Brinny”.
Robert was a Certified Public Accountant in the Fresno Business Community for over thirty years. He enjoyed the camaraderie of many beloved friends and business associates. Robert could often be found during his professional days with his good “buddies” golfing at “The Fort”. He immensely enjoyed family, foreign cars, golf, travel, gardening, fine food and a great glass of red wine!
Lovingly named Papa Bob, Robert spent much of his time as a retiree with his grandchildren. He was a frequent face at sporting and school events. He also volunteered many hours working at his church in Loomis, CA gardening and setting up for the local homeless outreach. He will be greatly missed by all, but leaves a legacy of compassion, kindness and his own unique humor.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Robert Swanton’s memory to Shepherd of the Sierra Presbyterian Church in Loomis, CA or The Gathering Inn in Roseville, CA.
