Thomas Clark Osborn was born March 15, 1925 and went to Heaven March 25, 2021 at the age of 96. He was born in Tilden, Nebraska but spent most of the last sixty plus years residing in northern California. Tom is survived by his wife Eileen, sister Janell, daughters Nancy and Cindy, and son Kelley. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and wife of sixty-nine years, Ruth.
Soon after graduating from Tilden High School in 1943, Tom joined the Navy where he served aboard a minesweeper in the South Pacific. He had charge of fifteen men and was responsible for keeping the ship's engines running and electrical systems working. After he was discharged in March of 1946, he returned home to Tilden and six months later married his childhood sweetheart, Ruthie.
During the early years, while working nights on the railroad, Tom rode his 1954 Triumph motorcycle to victory on hill climbs and endurance events as well as racing cars on dirt tracks. Later, Tom moved his family to northern California and worked twenty years for State Farm Insurance. For a number of years he was also very active and served as tour director for the Auburn Region Vintage Car Club. He loved antique cars. In his spare time, he repaired or restored cars and motorcycles in his garage which continued through retirement and into his nineties! He always had a project he was working on. Tom loved spending time with his family and friends, traveling and flying airplanes. He spent the last few years of his life married to a long-time friend, Eileen, sharing stories and making each other laugh. He was a very hard worker, wonderful husband, a great dad and grandpa who loved the Lord. He made friends wherever he went.
He will be greatly missed!
Celebration of Life will be held at Chapel of the Hills on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
