Walter Scott Price Jr.

Walter passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 101 on March 13, 2016, in Roseville, CA. He was born on January 17, 1915 in Palestine, Texas to Walter Scott Price, Sr. and Lucy Vinson Harper Price. He was the second born of four children, and was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth, his parents, and sisters Louise, Lucy Virginia, and brother John Cuthbert. He lived in Palestine, Texas until he joined the Army in World War II serving in the Texas 36th Division, from 1941 to 1945. Later, he met the love of his life, Ruth A. Gilmore. Together, they raised a family of three children. Walter and Ruth both worked for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, until retirement. They lived in Auburn, CA for 43 years. After retirement, he loved travelling with Ruth and visiting his six grandchildren. We will forever remember his stories and traditions, his humor and devotion.

He is survived by son Lyle Price (Connie) of Fleming Island, FL; daughters Lilli Anne Pontillo (Frank) of Rocklin, CA; and Nancy Price-Sischka (Robert) of Flagstaff, AZ; six grandchildren: Brian, Kevin, Michael, John Robert, James, and John David; four great-grand-children: Lyndsey, Megan, Vincente, and Viviana; three nieces and a nephew.

The memorial will be held at Bell Road Baptist Church in Auburn at 11:30 AM Thursday, March 31, 2016. Reception to follow.
