I just found out and I am so sad to hear this. Bob was a huge part of my life as a youth mentoring me and helping to guide me when he didn't have to. Class act. I worked with Bob from 1973 on, for the DPW. He was a hard working man, for the good of the people, and always fair in his treatment of us.

Bob was always a good friend when I lived in the Heights. He will be missed!

The Mayor was a visionary.  He and the fellow Founders literally put Auburn Hills on the map.  Bob's passion for his work developing the city has provided countless opportunities.  His work with young people created a strong sense of community and resulted in many life-long relationships.  We will forever be grateful for the opportunity to work with him and learn from him.  Our heartfelt condolences to Vivian and the family.

Vivian, I remember the song Bob wanted sung at his funeral.  It is called "Life is Hard (God is Good)" and was originally recorded by Pam Thum.  The chorus says:


Life is hard, the world is cold.  We're barely young and then we're old.  But every falling tear is always understood.  Life is hard, yes life is hard but God is good!


It's too bad we lost track of each other.  It would have been nice to sing for you two again.  I look forward to being reunited in Heaven some day!

Vivian, Joe n Family of Bob - I am saddened to hear the news of Bob's passing and that I cannot attend any services (I moved to take care of my mom).  I am always proud to say, "I worked for THEE Mayor of Auburn Hills and his wife at their party store!" and that we've remained friends.  Running into either of them around the City they love n dedicated so much of themselves to, whether at a fish fry, board of education, voting, city offices, or stores - always a chance to catch up and with hugs. Growing up as a kid in Pontiac Twp. and Auburn Hills Bob was always bigger than life. A great man who really cared about the citizens and his community. Bob was a strong role model showing kids what service was all about. He is one of the reasons that I joined the Pontiac Twp. Fire Department as a cadet and continued on with Auburn Hills. Bob was there for the good times and bad. Always someone to lean on. I remember when we lost a Firefighter in 1994 as we came back to station 3 there he was waiting to help and support us in our time of need. I'm way better having known you as a mentor and friend. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Grusnick on multiple occasions while I lived in Pontiac twp/Auburn Hills from 1977 until 1988. I believe Mr. Grusnick did more for Auburn Hills that anyone before or after him.

Vivian, I share your deepest sorrows. Bob and I were close friends through grade school and were still friends in high school, although we both developed our own interest. We will miss him here, but will reunite in heaven.  The last time we met was when you still had the store.
