She was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy. She was one of the first female Occupational Therapists and was very proud of that fact.

Sylvia will always be remembered for her love of being involved in the Ladies Auxiliary of The VFW. She was president of the Auxiliary for several years. Later she became a member of the Red Hatters. She was a very active woman and enjoyed the time she spent helping others and these organizations.
