Loren Gene Olson died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of January 12, 2017 from complications resulting from a heart attack he suffered last October. He was 70.
He was born at Tacoma General Hospital on October 25, 1946. He never strayed far from his native city, and at the time of his death he was living in the NE Tacoma house he grew up in.
He attended NE Tacoma Elementary, was among the first graduating classes of the old Meeker Middle School, and graduated from Stadium High School. He worked for a number of years as a carpenter before switching to HVAC repair, a trade from which he retired in 2005.
An only child, Loren spent a lifetime studying his genealogy, combing through microfilms in his early years, in his later years clicking through online ancestry sites.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who would literally give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed one.
Loren was preceded in death by father Emil (“Bud”) Alexander Olson and mother Frances Marian Wilson. He is survived by Leslie, his wife of 40 years; his son Brian and daughter-in-law Angela; his son Jeremy and daughter-in-law Jenny; his “sweetie,” granddaughter Amanda; and his two “buddies,” grandsons William and Jacob.
