She grew up in Auburn, participated in Drill team and graduated from Auburn High School in 1941.
She met Thomas B. Pollard, who was in the Army, stationed at camp Lewis. The thought they were out to just have a good time but fell in love.
They were married in Seattle on a Sunday and my Aunt moved mountains to have all the courts open so they could get a wedding license before Thomas had to go back to Camp Lewis.
Lydia worked for the Auburn Globe News Paper as a reporter for the Society Page. After Tom's long separation from WWII they settled in Auburn where they had 8 children; Thomas Pollard (Debbie, deceased), Suzanne Oswald (James), James Pollard (Linda), Jack Pollard (Lori), Judith Haynie (Dwight), Daniel Pollard (Cathy), Cynthia Pardo (Roger), Larry Pollard (Theresa).
Lydia was an active parent in her children's school and a member of white river Presbyterian church. Both her and Tom were active and held office in the American Legion post 78. In later years she worked at the American Legion State of office as State Secretary.
After retiring she lived in her sweet little house where she spent many happy years - she had 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She loved to play games with them; baseball, basketball, and taught them all how to play poker, she said she was teaching them math. She loved our family Bingo and Sunday night card's at Sue's house. Lydia was a great sports enthusiast, she loved the Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, and the Washington Huskies.
She passed into Heaven on September 30, 2017.
In her own works - "I've lived a long full life."
Bless our Momma.
