

Marie married the love of her life, Mike Manzella, on February 15, 1969. Together, they traveled and lived across the country while he served in the United States Air Force, creating meaningful memories and raising their children along the way. Marie grew up in the country, instilling in her a deep appreciation for nature, animals, and peaceful living.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marie worked throughout her life as a seamstress, in event security, and later as a Walmart stocker and greeter, where she was known for her warm smile and kind spirit. She enjoyed sewing, reading, bird-watching from her porch, and spending time with her beloved family. She had a fondness for Westerns — especially John Wayne — and loved bingo, gambling trips to Biloxi, and watching movies. Marie also enjoyed participating in a bowling league. She was a woman of strong faith and was a proud member of the Baptist church.
Marie is survived by her children: Leonard Pirkle (Linda), Sara Saunders, and James Pirkle Sr. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Tara Claywell-Hobby (Curtis), Autumn Sprouse (Josh), Lindsay Kruljac (Justin), Reed Pirkle, Casey Marie Pirkle, JP Pirkle, and Jake Pirkle.
She was blessed with many great-grandchildren, including Jaden, Alona, Jaxon, Jesse, JJ, Everly, Lainey, Leo, Letty, and Killian, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Manzella; her sister, Barbara Lane; and her parents, Sarah and Samuel Groover.
She will be remembered for her steadfast love, gentle strength, humor, and devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
