Winter Haven- William “Papa Bill” Thomas DeHart, Jr., age 88 passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015. He was born November 18, 1926 in Portsmouth, VA the son of William Thomas DeHart, Sr., and Esther A. Gregory DeHart. He was a retired BMCM with the US Navy. He was a Leiutenant retired from the Portsmouth, VA Fire Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wahneta where he served as a teacher and deacon.
Bill, or “papa Bill” as he was known, was preceded in death by his first wife Frances M DeHart and daughter Ruth Ann Orndorff. He is survived by his wife Ethel DeHart, daughter Debi DeHart, sons William B (Jennie) DeHart, and Thomas (Vicki) DeHart, stepsons Barry (Tracey) Cayson and Butch Cayson, brother Harry M DeHart, grandchildren Jaimee Robinson, David (Amanda) Robinson, April DeHart, Jennifer Hartzell, Eric Burr, Stephanie Burr, Sarah (Tim) Moss, Melissa Craddock, Benjamin (Stephanie) DeHart, William B (Rhonda) DeHart, Jr., Crystal (Joe) Dowdy, Eric (Heather) Cayson, Chad Cayson, Brandi King, Emma Rose Cayson and 20 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 2-4pm with funeral services Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11am, both at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Winter Haven,
