William (Billy) Eidtson, Sr. was born in Graniteville, SC on September 28, 1936, son of the late John and Lessie Mae Eidtson. He migrated to New York City as a child and would forever be a New Yorker at heart. He is survived by his spouse, Camelia, his brother, Jerry, his two children, Darlene and Bill, and his grandchildren, Ana, Matthew, Carlyn, Hank, and Desmond. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy served his country as a Tech Sergeant in the United States Air Force. After twenty years of active duty, he continued to build airplanes for Grumman Aerospace and Piper Aircraft. In his later years, he worked at Country Hearth Bakery until retirement.
Billy, known as “Pops” to his family, had a big personality, a booming voice, and always gave to anyone who asked. He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. You could often find him listening to Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, The Temptations, or watching and supporting any sports team, as long as they were from New York.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held for Billy at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11am.
