Betty Jean Walden

A lifelong resident of Augusta, she was the daughter of the late Tommy Kent, Jr. and Mary Ruth Outzs Kent. Betty retired after 15 years of service in the lunch room with the Richmond County Board of Education. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness Church on Boykin Rd. Betty liked to cook, read and fish, but her most precious time was spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Walden, sister, Francis Blaylock, and great grandchild, Colton David Gullikson. She is survived by her children, Donna Jean (Ronald) Gullikson, Hephzibah, GA; Dennis Ray Walden and friend, Sherrill Johnson, North Augusta; Vonnie Ruth Jones, Augusta; Thomas (Tammy) Walden, Grovetown; sisters, Iris Newman, Tommy Kent, Betty Kent, grandchildren, David Gullikson, Jessica Arrington, Autumn Walden, Summer Walden, Cameron Walden, Austin Walden, Shannon Jones Shaffer, Brandon Jones, Robin Allen Jones, great grandchildren, David Gullikson, Jr., Rachel Jones, Michael Ray Gullikson, Alexis Gullikson, Nicholas Gullikson, Trinity Gullikson, Cierra Brady, Gracie Arrington, Camden Arrington, Kayla Shaffer, and Jacob Shaffer.

Memorial services will be held 11 am Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Elliott Sons Lumpkin Road Chapel. Inurnment will take place in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at Ms. Betty Walden’s home and Saturday at the funeral home from 10am until the hour of service.
