

Mrs. Oetjen was a member of Cliffwood Presbyterian Church. She owned and was very proud of the Novelty Knook Antique Shop on Mike Padgett Highway and had a boutique at Riverfront Antique Mall in North Augusta, South Carolina. Antiques were more of a hobby rather than a job for her. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir for many years. Mrs. Oetjen became a choir director at just the young age of 19 at Gracewood United Methodist Church where she also served as the President of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She also worked as a home designer for many years.
Mrs. Oetjen is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Leon and Gladys Helmly. Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Mr. Ed Oetjen; children, Randy Oetjen, Carol Rezzelle (Rick), Lynda Shead (Jim), and Kevin Oetjen (Ginny); grandchildren, Adam Rezzelle (Kay), Corinna Rezzelle, Tyler Oetjen, Katie Shead, Haleigh Oetjen, Hannah Shead, Alex Shead; great grandson, Karson Quick; brothers, L.W. Helmly and William Helmly (Sandra); and friend and caregiver, Caroline Reddick.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Geoff Gleason officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
