James A Kelley, Jr, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away May 1, 2020. James enjoyed 84 years of good health up until the last three months of his life. James was born and lived in Augusta, Georgia his entire life. After attending Richmond Academy in Augusta, Georgia, he was employed by Hubert Duffie Construction, became Superintendent/Foreman and subsequently became Foreman at RW Allen Construction. James was a Master Brick mason and is well-known for his expert masonry work at First Baptist Church on Walton Way as well as many other churches and schools in the Richmond County area. James had the leadership skills and the ability to get the job done. James was a member of Mcbean Baptist Church; he was a fisher of men for our Lord and enjoyed fishing for Red Bellies and catfish as well. He enjoyed traveling in his camper with his wife Peggy to the mountains and beach. He cherished spending time with his much-loved grandchildren and walking his furry friends, Dinkie, Little Bit and Peanut. James was an inspiration to his family, friends and co-workers. He was a fan of NASCAR, Loretta Lynn, and Buddy Holley. James would sing "Peggy Sue" by Buddy Holley to his wife Peggy.
James is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Louise “Peggy” Kelley, three children, Lynn Kelley Sligh, Cissy Kelley Brooks, Timothy Kelley and wife Donna, and 9 grandchildren, Brittany Kelley, Timothy Kelley, Bethany Kelley, Victoria Kelley, Daniel Kelley, Riley Kelley, McKenzie Horseman Dukes, Chloe’ Horseman, and Cody Brooks.
