

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ms. Millie Shirey Goodwin, age 78, wife of the late Jim Goodwin, entered into rest Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Nancy Hall's PCH in Evans, Georgia. Ms. Goodwin was born in Wrens, Georgia, to the late Shedrach M. Shirey and Clara Peebles Shirey. She was a well-known and loved waitress at Western Sizzlin on Walton Way for 15 years. Ms. Goodwin was an avid bowler at Masters Bowling Lanes, a member of the Ladies 225 Club; and was one of the best lady bowlers in Augusta. She managed the family business, Lawn Master, from 2006 until 2014. She was a member of Dearing Full Gospel Church. Ms. Goodwin was a true Southern Belle, and a beautiful example of unconditional love to her family. She had a giving heart, a witty personality, and a smile that would light up the room. Her favorite past times were baking, nurturing her flowers, watching hummingbirds, and playing Crazy 8 with her loved ones. She was a wonderful wife to Jim for 50 years, and a loving Mother, Nanny, and Sister, who will be truly missed. Additional family members include her daughters, Brenda (Bob) Shobert of Grovetown, and Linda (Les) Kitchings of Aiken, SC; her granddaughters, Julie (Timmy) Calhoun, Brittany Miller, and Stephanie Ready; her grandsons, James (Krissy) Testi, Justin (Blair) Shobert, Bubba (Stacy) Shobert, Brian (Christy) Briggs, and Daniel (Alexx) Kitchings; a sister, Betty Ann (Dean) Bales; and four brothers, James (Betty) Shirey, Judson Shirey, Danny Shirey, and the late Gene Shirey; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 3PM, Friday, May 15, 2015, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home-Lumpkin Road Chapel with Rev. Eddie Renew and Rev. Jerry Rockefeller officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Brinson, Benny Shirey, Justin Shobert, Bubba Shobert, Jim Pinckney, and Steve Ombler.
