

Augusta, GA-Ruby Scott Workman went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on February 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, with her dear friend Tommy Arnett officiating. Her grandson, Mark Workman, will deliver the eulogy and Dr. Larry Brown will conduct the committal services.
Born August 10, 1916, in Matheny, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Alonza D. and Virginia M. Scott. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years, G.B. "Bill" Workman, as well as her two sisters, Grace S. Fisher and Virginia S. Stewart and three brothers, J. Fergie, Wanna, and Tom Scott, and two half-brothers, Wolsey McGraw and Jim Scott, and one half-sister, Maude S. Cozort.
Ruby was the oldest living graduate of Oceana High School in Oceana, West Virginia, where she met Bill. She excelled in her studies and graduated valedictorian of her class. She and Bill made their home in Jesse, West Virginia, where she retired as Postmaster in 1972. She was a member of Guyandotte Baptist Church in Jesse where her greatest contribution was working with the youth of the church. She continued this work in churches in the Augusta area and at the time of her death was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church where she was honored on her 98th birthday with a special "Ruby Workman Day".
She is survived by four children, Naoma and husband, Dr. Gerald Ellison, Fayetteville, NC, Earsel Gene and wife, Lynda Bragg-Workman, Hephzibah, Julia Annalee Kulick, Sacramento, California, and Bill Edwin Workman and wife, Diane Workman, North Augusta, SC; nine grandchildren, Lori Fuselier, Mary Kulick, Erica Eder, Karen Kulick, Eric Workman, Jennifer Mann, Craig Workman, Dawn Craft, and Mark Workman; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. Special thanks to her loving caregivers; Mary Wolfe and Doretha Williams.
Ruby loved flowers and enjoyed many hours working in her flower and vegetable gardens. However, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Guyandotte Baptist Church PO Box 55 Jesse, West Virginia 24849.
The family will receive friends 6 P.M. until 8 P.M Monday February 29, 2016 at Elliott Sons funeral Home.
