Daniel Lawrence Maestas

On Thursday, May 28, 2020, Daniel Lawrence Maestas, husband and father, passed away at the age of 87. Daniel was born in Chamita, New Mexico, to Celestino and Tomacita (Garcia) Maestas. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree and his Master’s Degree, and had a distinguished thirty-three year career as an auditor with the Department of Defense. On September 23, 1960, he married Rafaelita Martinez. They raised a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Angela. After the passing of his first wife, he later met and married Gloria A. Borowski in 2012.

Daniel is preceded in death by his father, Celestino, his mother, Tomacita, his sister, Stella, his brother, Freddy, and his first wife Rafaelita. His sister, Cecilia, joined him on June 7, 2020. He is survived by his second wife Gloria, his son Daniel and wife Cecilie, four grandchildren, and his daughter Angela and husband Manny, and granddaughter.

While flowers are a welcome remembrance, in lieu of flowers friends and family are encouraged to make a donation to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

The resurrection of Jesus confirms our trust that life comes after death and that life comes out of death. The promise of eternal life awaits us at the end of our pilgrimage, and the promise of new life is present in the daily dying of a life lived in love. The Lord has risen and has gone before us. We need not fear.
