Dora Dee Mitchell
5 February, 1940 – 15 November, 2021
Dora Dee Mays was born on February 5, 1940 in Earle Arkansas to Bedford and Eneazer Mays. Dora was the fourth of nine children. At the age of 18 she moved to St. Louis Missouri. When she was 20 years old, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she met and married Joe Nathan Mitchell. From this union they had 4 children, Marcus, Lynda, Jacquie and JoLynn. As a young girl working in an Arkansas cotton field, Dora fondly remembers a couple visiting her home and talking to her mom about a paradise earth. She and her mom looked at the cotton fields and thought surely, they can’t be serious. Over 25 years later, Jehovah’s Witnesses knocked on her door, and showed her in the Bible that this earth will be a paradise. Immediately, the ring of truth reached her heart, and the resurrection hope provided her with comfort, as she looked forward to the time when she would see her dear mother in paradise. In January of 1971 Dora dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized. She always maintained her love and zeal for the truth in God’s Word the Bible. She always tried to be a good example and encouragement to all who knew her. Dora loved and appreciated the wonderful privilege of being able to read the Bible daily and sharing the things she learned with others. Dora worked at the Denver Public Library for many years and enjoyed her retirement. She was beautiful inside and out. She enjoyed music, gardening, and spending time with her family. She loved watching tennis, old movies, cooking and word search puzzles. She had a great sense of humor and was a supportive mother, sister, and friend. Sadly, on November 15, 2021, Dora left this life and entered Jehovah’s memory. Dora is survived by her son Marcus (Gayle), her daughters Lynda, Jacquie (Virgil), and JoLynn; sisters (Lessie, Ara, and Margret); brothers (Sylvester and Roy); nieces and nephews (Tony, Kim, Dena, Vicky, and Kenisha); grandchildren (Jene’, Dorian, Ashlee, Jourdon, and Jaerron); great grandchildren (Anayah and BJ), and a host of other relatives.See more See Less
