Glenna Mae Brooks, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on May 9, 2024, at her home in Aurora, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.
Born on September 19, 1961, on an Army Base in North Carolina to William Denzle Rainey, Jr. and Gladys Rhoat Rainey, Glenna was the second of five children. Her early years were marked by the nomadic lifestyle of a military family, moving across the country alongside her siblings. It was during these formative years that she developed a strong bond with her family, a bond that would endure through the years.
Glenna's path led her to meet William Brooks during her school years, and their love blossomed into a union that lasted almost 28 years. Though their journey took them through various twists and turns, their commitment remained steadfast.
Following a brief stint in the United States Army, Glenna pursued her passion for numbers, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the Community College of Denver. She dedicated 27 years of her life to King Soopers in Denver, where she worked as a dedicated cashier, earning the admiration and respect of colleagues and customers alike.
Beyond her professional life, Glenna was renowned for her culinary skills. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and nourishment, where she crafted delicious meals from scratch, often using vegetables from her own garden. Glenna's sage with peppers and tomatoes became a signature dish, cherished by all who were fortunate enough to taste it.
When she wasn't in her kitchen, Glenna enjoyed dining out, particularly at her favorite spots like Golden Corral, Denny's, or the cozy neighborhood diner, Scooters, famous for its fried mushrooms. She had a passion for collecting crystals, a reverence for the earth, and a fascination with astrology, which she shared with her loved ones.
Glenna will be remembered for instilling in her family the values of hard work, responsibility, and the joy of cooking. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory will live on through the lives she touched.
Glenna is preceded in death by her parents, William Denzle Rainey, Jr. and Gladys Rhoat Rainey, her siblings Denzle Rainey and Diana Griffin, and her son Earnest Emry. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill; loving daughter, Laura; step-son, Jesse; adopted son, Jacob (Colleen); cherished grandson, Domenick; and adopted granddaughter, Annabelle. She also leaves behind her sisters, Donna Rainey and Loretta Rainey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
Glenna's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the bonds of family. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
