1921-2013
Irma was born in Ciego De Avila, Cuba. She obtained her PhD in pharmacology at the University of Havana in
Havana, Cuba. Irma worked at her family's pharmacy in Cuba until July,1967 when she immigrated to the
United States via Spain with her husband and daughter. Upon arriving in Colorado, Irma worked as a lab technician
for the University of Colorado, researching the link between chromosomes and down-syndrome as well as
cancer research.
She is preceded in death by her parents Julian and Maria Torres and her brother Mario Torres. She is survived by her sister-in-law Eloina Torres, daughter Maria Buerman and husband Rafael Sanchez. A celebration of life will take place later this summer. In lieu of flowers please send donations to:
