

With cherished memories, Maureen Anita Eckery (Vigil) passed away at home on December 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and selflessness. Maureen was born July 5, 1949, in Morenci, Arizona to Juan and Ellen Vigil (Thompson). She was a graduate of Cathedral High. She lived most of her life as a proud resident of the Westminster/Arvada area.
Maureen had a long career as a diligent employee for the IRS, displaying grace and dignity for a government entity rarely possessing such traits. Maureen was a devoted mother and wife, always putting her family’s needs before her own. She was an unwavering, devout woman of faith, who was never afraid to share her Catholic convictions with those around her. Yet she did so with compassion and humility. Maureen never spoke unkindly of others and did not have an enemy in this world. Maureen was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Westminster.
Maureen was preceded by her sister, Pat Spooner and sister Marge Slusher, Grandchild, Ben Medrano. She is survived by husband Gerald Eckery (Lynden Scahill, daughter); brother Tony Vigil, Children; Jodie Mooney (Kevin), Sean Lefor (Denise), Jackie Branch – Grandchildren; Charles Martinez, Amber Lefor, Matthew Dunn (Amanda), Lexi Branch, Parker Jr. Branch, Katherine Mooney, Violet Mooney and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 7595 Federal Blvd, Westminster, CO, 80030, January 5th 2026 at 10 am to reminisce and honor the life of Maureen Eckery. Following the church service her burial will be held at 2pm at Chapel Hill Cemetery at 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121
