I miss your phone calls Alec.  You always started with "Yah Lorne" in a demonstrative voice.  Raisy and I did have lunch with Rosetta in Aurora very recently.   I hope to see you again, although not soon.

Whenever I swim I think of you, as we both liked swimming for sure.  I see Rosetta and speak to her often she is a beautiful person! Alec I think about you alot my twin. I'm alive wish you were here. Last year at this time I was at cottage swimming. You always enjoyed the water and swam. Dear Rosetta, Jonathan and Mitchel,
My sincerest heartfelt sympathies to you. 
I have so many great memories of Alec. He used to come to my parents house every Friday night for Shabbat. Sometimes he made me laugh so hard that I cried. But what I found the funniest, is that he made himself laugh to the point that he would be in  tears! (good tears) He loved to use Lorne in the story which was so funny , Lorne could take it too.
When I was a teenager, he used to tell me that I need to take breaks, he always told me that especially when I went to University.
He cared about me and I felt it.  I really cared about him.
He used to tell me to get a dog and the dog would protect me. I never did but now, my kids are asking for one.
I will really miss him.

I was sad to hear this news, and my condolences to the Gabe family. 
My best memories of Alec are the car rides he would always provide Mitch and I to the local gym/YMCA. He would always bring his dog Riley with him as well. The car rides were interesting, with good discussion, words-of-wisdom, and laughter I'll never forget.

I can remember fondly my time spent living with Alec and Etta.
From apple picking on my 18th Birthday to going into work with Alec when Etta came home to Northern Ireland. We didn't have many cooked dinners that week.
You both give me the opportunity of a lifetime  and some wonderful memories and for that I am eternally grateful.

Dear Rosetta, Jonathan, Mitchell, Raisy, David and the Gabe Family 

We were shocked and  most saddened to learn of Alec’s untimely  passing. As close friends for almost 60 years,  we shared many good times in high school & at McGill U, playing sports, working together in summer jobs in the Laurentians, travelling together to Bermuda, Pennsylvania, Picton, collaborating on work projects and sharing family news,   Alec regularly exuded great pride over the achievements of his family.  During our communications, his love for nature and his dogs was ever-present.  He enthusiastically opine on political issues and expended  tremendous energy passionately and fearlessly advocating  for his beloved Israels safety.  He will be fondly remembered as a bright, articulate, caring and dedicated  brother, husband, father, uncle and brother-in-law. Gone too soon, but never forgotten, he will be sorely missed.

Alec and I were friends in Montreal up until the time he left for Toronto. My memories of Alec are of sports on or off the field and a considerable amount of laughter. I have school memories  of Alec in Outremont sitting quietly at his desk.
I was sorry to learn of his passing. My condolences to his family.

Alec and I grew up in a family of six siblings. We always found ways to have fun. When we were very young we would go to the slopes on Mount Royal in Montreal in the winter with two corrugated boxes and try and race each other down the hill. The boxes would slide maybe one or two feet before toppling over with us in them. We would then roll down the hill laughing over and over.

As we got older I can remember buying a lemon cake at Richstone’s bakery. Alec and I would then retreat to our bedroom, slice the cake in half and devour it while listening on the radio to a Montreal Canadiens away game.

Then there was a time when we rode the only bike we had (a used one of course) to Belmont amusement park in the north end of Montreal. Alec sat on the seat while I stood on the pedals. It was a 20 km round trip from our home. I was twelve, he was ten.

Aside from the fun-loving side of his character there was his strong intellect as to world affairs. In addition, pharmacology is not the easiest subject to attain a masters degree in. It’s a testament to his persistence and academic achievement.

In the very early seventies I remember driving Alec from Montreal to Aurora for a job interview with a pharmaceutical company. There he was walking up to the front door of the company all decked out in his best attire – hiking boots, a pair of jeans, a plaid lumberjack jacket and hair down to his shoulders.

After having waited in the car for over an hour he then appeared walking back to the car. I wondered what kind of impression he had made. As he got into the car I cautiously asked him how the interview went. He said “they hired me”. When it came to chemistry, he knew his stuff.

His life wasn’t always easy. However the best thing that happened to him was meeting and marrying Rosetta and together having two great sons, Jonathan and Mitchel. In his way he always meant the very best and was very proud of all of them.

Rest in peace my brother, rest in peace.

I was fourteen years old when my brother and sister, Alec and Raisy were born. It afforded me the opportunity to watch the twins grow and mature.

Alec came to live with my family for four years when he was seventeen years old. My husband Arthur and I had some very interesting conversations and debates with him. We enjoyed his intellect and his sense of humour especially his very strong views and love for the State if Israel. He also very much enjoyed the family life and interacting with our children.

After High School, Alec went to McGill University and then onto Columbia University in New York where he earned a degree in Pharmacology.

Alec then moved to Toronto where he met Rosetta and subsequentally they were married. Together they had two sons who were their pride and joy. Once a year, we would drive up to Toronto and made a point of seeing them, Living miles away, I regret that we could not see each other more often.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Rosetta, Jonathan and Mitchel and may their cherished memories of him be a blessing.

My Uncle Alec was an extremely humorous, intelligent, and kind person.   I spent a lot of quality time with him growing up and he taught me many life lessons.  We spent countless hours debating all sports and especially WWE wrestling banter.  Alec had a wonderful  sense of humour and was an amazing storyteller.

We spent lots of time together, especially when we were younger. You joined me at the stables for riding, and you joined me to play pick up hockey.  You were certainly a funny character,  and  I enjoyed  your innovative way of expressing yourself. Not unlike your twin Raisy, you were both very honest in your opinions, and never minced words. Your spirit will certainly live on through Raisy.

As I stood on the small, sandy beach yesterday, I thought of you, my twin brother, Alec, who loved going up North and swimming.  You asked me to stand by the lake, looking out at the water, and we would be together.  

We shared many years with your family celebrating high holidays and Passover with many laughs, conversations, lots of good food and total enjoyment.  

You were a fantastic, athletic kid, and I wasn’t.  We complemented one another in many ways.  Growing up in a large family is not easy but it is nice to  have a twin to share life experiences with.

My favorite memories are when you moved to Toronto and would come to our home when Robert and Carolyn were very young to share meals and conversations.  Over the years, everyone enjoyed your spectacular witt and stories.

Your achievements in life were numerous and pretty amazing.  When you married Rosetta, I was ecstatic as I loved her the moment I met her.  You and Rosetta have raised two beautiful boys.  I will always be there for Rosetta, who is my friend and my sister-in-law as well as for the boys.  

We will have great times speaking of you and the many fun times we had together.  I will always cherish the memories of our last lunch together three weeks ago.  That is my parting memory of our good times together.

Alec will be sorely missed and my heart goes out to his wife, Rosetta and his sons. Jonathan and Mitchell. 
Alec’s greatest pride and joy was in raising his sons and watching them grow into fine young men. 
My own memories hark as far back as our tumultuous childhood and all the antics that occur in a large family. 
Alec was mostly a serious person but he had a great sense of humor  especially his ability to laugh at himself.   I will miss our intense discussions on the state of the world but most especially about Israel,  which was close to his heart.  He challenged me with his intellect and commitment to voicing his opinions to those in power whose policies he wished to sway. 
He enjoyed teaching high school students on the dangers of alcohol and drugs, and his professional expert witness testimony in court made for many entertaining stories. 
Most of all, Alec acknowledged to me his abiding thankfulness for his wife, Rosetta’s wisdom and moral compass in helping to shape their family unity and strength.  
He has touched us all and his memory will be cherished.
