Dear Irish ...... 
you often enter our thoughts and conversations- as we sit to enjoy a bottle of red wine, scrabble, or black forest cake...meals and laughter shared with us (& the hammock!).  And we come across little things that draw you near and touch our hearts...... the walking stick your grandson Evan carved away at when he was like..... 8. He used it on their late night walks with their dad and their dogs. It stayed with us through the years- just because Evan stripped it smooth. Who knew it would come to fit you too, as you and Allan walked the dogs together through Eden Mills years later. Its part of our memories now.... ready to carry the next gentle soul maybe. Today, We just want you to know you are both missed and loved by the legacy you've left behind. We hope your hearts and your steps take you together and easily along your path with comfort followed by the sweet sounds of nature and lilts of celtic laughter. Love Allan and Terri.

I am so sad to hear of my Uncle Eugene's passing. To my cousins and extended family, I am sorry for your loss, which I know is great. My father's youngest sibling, Eugene's passing marks the closing chapter on a generation of Pelans.I am so glad that I had the privilege of meeting him in again 2011.

A memory I will always hold near is when I made him laugh SO often...at the same thing. He held it back as long as he could (I had a single hook hammock come away from an old branch and when it broke the pole and branch both bonked me on the head..... and landed me on the ground) I just sat there - partially because I couldn't remember how to move, and was also stunned at what happened. Allan and Eugene had been close by sharing a Guiness by the pond and just getting ready to have a snooze in the late afternoon sun.  It was like something out of a scripted scene. I could see Eugene looking back and forth at me....he too unsure of what just happened...... He was very kind about it because my vision started to go. Later - after a trip to the hospital, he started to play the scene back to me. He could barely breath and speak from laughing so hard. It was a memory for him too because I know he played it out to each of the families afterwards. It has always been a pleasure to hear his laughter and see his Irish smiling eyes. We already have missed having his company at home - seeing the amount of food that man could pack in (& black forest cake) and the joy he had from walking our dogs and stuffing them with treats. It made him very happy. Now, I'll see him re-united with his life partner as they enjoy euchere with my parents. Another bright star lights our night sky.
