It was of great sadness that we found out about Alan's passing just yesterday. We met Alan at Highland Gate. He was a wonderful man and   took the time to spend with everyone to make them feel special.  He will be missed by many.

Dear El & family,  Lesia and I were shocked and heart broken to hear the news of Al's passing. He had been in my thoughts recently as I know with the Masters, the hockey playoffs, and the start of another golf season that this was Al's favourite time of year. Sadly I tried to surprise Al at Highland Gate a couple of weeks ago regretabbly never knowing why he wasn't there.                         I have so many wonderful memories of the times I spent with Al. The talks we had, the laughs we shared. The subject matter never mattered because on most topics we shared the same viewpoint. On paper I may have been his boss, but all the while he taught me so much about life. There was always a right way to do things and Al was never shy to offer his opinion, but beneath that sometimes gruff exterior was a heart of gold. Always asking about your family, and always there to lend a hand. By any standard Al was not a poor man, but if the true measure of a man is the number of lives he has touched, Al was one of the richest men I know. Our lives are all better for having known him.                                                Al had many friends, and I'm sure all of them could tell you how his face would light up, and the twinkle in his eye he would get when he spoke about his family. Even if they hadn't met you they felt they knew you through Al's stories. Like most parents and grandparents he didn't always agree with your choices but he was always there with love and support. His family was clearly Al's number one priority, and his pride and joy. If family was his pride and joy, El, you were his heart. Not one for outward displays of affection, Al could never hide how he felt about you. Yours was a true love story built on respect and friendship.                                                                                  Al was a special man. I know this is a difficult time for you all, and you will always miss Al but in time I hope you can take comfort knowing that you have enough wonderful memories of the times you shared to last a lifetime. My deepest sympathies to you all, you are in my thoughts.
