Blair Sylvia Koski-Klein

28 August, 19662 January, 2019

Our inspiring, courageous, fun-loving Blair Koski-Klein passed away on January 2nd, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Blair is remembered best by those who shared in her joy of life: Andy, her husband of more than twenty years, Carson, her son and light of her life, her parents, siblings, close family and friends. For Blair, skating was the other “love of her life” and passion – from the day she watched figure skaters glide across the ice, she flourished in training, competing, skating internationally with Ice Capades, Disney on Ice and other ice shows and eventually, coaching. She became a globetrotter, traveling the world while performing in “the show”. After hanging up her show skates, Blair “settled down” in Canada, coaching in B.C. before moving to Richmond Hill and Aurora to continue her coaching career with Andy, which she dearly loved and the students that brought so much joy to her life. Together they have ushered many young skaters into the skating community. Carson was born in 2002, the light of Blair and Andy’s life. Blair reveled in family life, organizing innumerable gatherings of family and friends, and building the foundation of strong family bonds. There was a challenging side to Blair’s life as she struggled with Crohn's disease from a young age and breast cancer later in her life – but she was a fighter and met this challenge with courage, strength, laughter, and a commitment to live life to the fullest. There are no words to describe just how truly special Blair was to her family and friends and everyone who was lucky enough to have known her. Blair’s contagious smile and laughter will forever live in our hearts and the hearts of her figure skating community. Blair will be dearly remembered and very much missed by her husband Andy, son Carson, parents Mel and Bryn Koski, parents-in-law Henry and Wilhelmina Klein, brothers Rhys and Niles and sister Rhian, sisters-in-law Leslie, Corinne and Joanne, brothers-in-law Tony and Pat and nephews and nieces Evan, Briar, Dryden, Anna and Brittany. We would like to thank Dr Jeejeebhoy (affectionately known as God, by Blair) for his outstanding care of Blair with her Crohn's disease and the Stronach Regional Health Centre and Dr Rahim and Dr Ayeni and all of the nurses who showed great affection and care for her too numerous chemo treatments Oh, and for those of you who know Blair well, we can’t forget Mickey! “I’ll always be with you... right there in your heart...” – Mickey Mouse(and Blair!) "When I'm on the ice, I'm at home" - Blair Family and Friends are invited to a gathering to celebrate Blair’s life on Sunday January 6, 2-5 pm (speeches begin at 3) at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON, L4G 6W8. ******BLAIR REQUESTED THAT PEOPLE WEAR PURPLE (HER FAVOURITE COLOUR) OR BRIGHT TO THIS CELEBRATION.****** In lieu of flowers, we would welcome donations to Breast Cancer Society of Canada ( ) or Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation ( )

My deepest condolences to Andy and Carson, and the rest of Blair's family, the Koskis, and friends.

I fondly remember the time she treated us to the Lion King at the Air Canada Centre some years ago. And I have great memories of our family Christmas get together events, including the just-passed Christmas dinner at Leslie and Niles where she maintained her sense of humor and love even when she was so gravely ill.

Blair was a wonderful person and will be sorely missed.

I just heard of the passing of THE AMAZING BLAIR Sunday evening. Kind, generous, happy, family oriented and special are just a few words that come to mind when I think of this beautiful sole. Blair, whom I met when our son's became classmates in Kindergarten. Carson, a very cherished boy of mom (and Andy). The earth lost a great, super great human being when Blair left us. Terribly saddened. I hope you find your way to heaven soon and put your skates back on. Prayers of healing are being wished to Andy, Carson and families during this heartbreaking time.

Our deepest sympathies to Andy, Carson and the families on the loss of their beloved Blair. She and Andy were wonderful coaches to both of my children when they were just learning to skate. Aurora Skating Club is where they got their start and today skating is a huge part of our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dearest beautiful inside & out.
A joy to be around. When appearing @ Ice Capades in Oakland, Calif. , she called & we met for the 1st time. I felt the bond immediately. Later, she & Andy visited us. & We spent time with Blair & the family on our Canadian trips. My brother Mel & I reunited, after many years. She was our special goodwill ambassador. I will forever feel blessed for the time we spent together. She will always live in our hearts. There's a very bright star shining in the heavens & her name is Blair.💖
She will never be forgotten. Aunt Sonja & family

Everyone knows that Blair was a kind, loving person - but her compassion for others was something to behold. Compassion, that is empathy and caring in action, could be taught by Blair. When I visited her in the hospital not so long ago I met her roommate - a patient who spoke no English and was up all night scared and calling the nurses constantly. What did Blair do? She sat with the other patient in the night and shared her Christmas magazine to calm and console her - with all she was going through she always thought of others . I feel lucky to call her my friend, to share texts at 2 am when she couldn’t sleep and to take her advice on life- you always need a little sparkle and time for family. Andy you are her rock and Carson her joy. We’ll never forget how she touched our lives.

I have so many wonderful memories of Blair. She will always be in my heart. I am sending all of my love and thoughts to her husband, son and family. Far too young to leave us but what a life she lived and love she gave. My very sincere condolences to you all.
