

Passed away peacefully in her 74th year on Sunday, September 7, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents Archibald and Brenda Robb, sister Anita Bettridge, in laws Donald Dodds (Christine) and Elizabeth Norris (Brad). She is survived by her husband Jack, daughter Portia (Anthony), son Nicholas and grandsons Fionn and Archie; and by her brother Richard Robb (Barbara),sisters in law Carolyn Dodds (Ric) and Pamela Dodds (Michele),cousins Margot Kitchener (Dave) and Rhona Robb, step siblings in law Todd Norris (Mindy), Robert Norris (Paula) and Betsie Norris, and all their families.
Her parents Archibald and Brenda, both Royal Air Force veterans, married at the end of WW2 in England. From there they moved to Malton, Ontario. Carol was born in Toronto and grew up in Malton and Bramalea. She had fond memories of family vacations at Sauble Beach, Ontario. At age 16, she left school and moved to Bristol, England where she lived with family and served an apprenticeship in data processing. Returning to Canada she applied her skills at Northern Electric, Control Data and Atomic Energy of Canada.
While exploring an interest in gliding, she met Jack and they were married in 1976. She soon completed her high school diploma. When they moved to Nova Scotia for four years, she studied at Mount St. Vincent University, obtaining a B.A. "with distinction" in 1981. After returning to Ontario they moved to Aurora and started a family. While the family was her top priority, she also volunteered and worked in addiction treatment, earning a diploma in Addictions Studies from McMaster University in 1998. She and Jack often visited family in Kansas, Michigan and Ontario.
Carol was always drawn to crafts. She could regularly be found painting, crocheting, crafting tapestries, or making jewellery. She served on the board of the Toronto Hookups Crochet Guild and was active in other craft groups in Markham and Aurora. She was also an enthusiastic cook and collector of cookbooks. She liked to get together with her "swim buddies" at the local pool. With Jack she was active in the First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto.
Cremation has occurred.
A memorial visitation for Carol will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8 with a memorial service commencing at 1:00 PM. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room.
