Charlie was a fabulous person to work with. He was always encouraging and pleasant. In the early days of flight test computing, he had a talent for identifying bugs in the software and was encouraged to do so by his peers. Yet, to my knowledge I never heard him complain.  Such was his talent in maintaining an upbeat attitude in a challenging environment.

It is sad news to hear of Charlie's passing.  It was a true pleasure to have worked with Charlie over the course of our time together at De Havilland.   Many hours were spent in great conversation, whether in the Data Reduction office waiting for flight test data to be printed out or sitting around the pool in Arizona on one of our deployments.  Never having a shortage of stories to tell, the topics ranging from the "old" days of flight testing,  to cottage projects and of course his philosophy of life affectionately referred to as Chuckism's .   A man with a huge enthusiasm for life  who will be fondly remembered by all of us in Flight Test at De Havilland.

We bought our cottage on Bob Beeney Trail, Gull Lake, from Hazel and Chuck.  He was always available to provide advice on the ongoing maintenance and did a wonderful job of renovating it.   He even let me help in the job, as he said, ' at an additional cost'.  I felt secure in the knowledge that he would 'keep an eye on things' during the winter and was around to help out anytime.  

I am grateful for the support both Hazel and Chuck gave to me and my two daughters as we spent our summers on the lake.  

May you continue to find peace and healing at your beautiful home on Gull Lake.

We are very sorry to hear of Chuck's passing.  We remember the visits to the cottages and the advice Chuck gave us about "repairing " or replacing our own cottage.  Norm also remembers the camaraderie at De Havilland through the years.  You are in our thoughts.

To My Aunt Hazel and cousins Jason and Laura,sorry for your loss.
I will always remember "Big Unc" as the life of the party,when we summered at Moreaus Landing (Elys) he was the one who would try the sketchy attempts at waterskiing on anything,didn't always go as planned but he always put on the best show.I remember him and Grandpa Oliver taking the us fishing and bullfrog hunting,then having a fry up.

We will always remember Chuck as a kind and giving person who was always great to be with.  One of our favourite memories was visiting Hazel and Chuck at their beautiful home on Gull Lake.  Chuck's home made wine was excellent and went well with his delicious barbecue of chicken/beef and home grown tomatoes and hot peppers.  All this combined with love and friendship and the sound of loons at night will never be forgotten.  May he rest in peace.

Chuck Oliver was a good person.   He was kind and generous and had many interesting stories to tell.  Chuck loved to travel and had a real spirit for adventure.   He was very ambitious and worked hard from the time he was a teenager.

Chuck made many good friends and kept them a lifetime.

My most heartfelt condolences to Hazel, Jason, Laura and family.  I am saddened by your loss and also by the challenges Chuck has endured in the last while.  Chuck was a kind man and always willing to help.  I remember and still very much appreciate how he power washed my deck one very hot afternoon with enthusiasm and no complaint.   He was also a skilled woodworker and I am fortunate to have a few of his creations. 

Chuck was very sociable and enjoyed visiting and visitors alike. I was fortunate a few years ago to be able to take Chuck and Hazel on a tour around my cottage area and Chuck was particularly pleased to visit Honey Harbour that day and reminisce about happy times there when he was young.  That will remain a happy memory for me too - as well as his big smile.  

Chuck was my brother in law.  He was a fun loving, adventurous, hard working man.  I have many memories of his humorous side.  He could always be counted on to help someone out.  He loved to socialize and could be the life of the party.    I remember his many wooden creations of furniture and other items which many in the family have.   He was known and loved by many and I will miss him a lot.  My condolences to his family for his loss.
