Dear Maureen

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family.
We wish you lots of strength during this difficult time.

We are so glad that we were able to spend some time with Dan and you during our visit to Canada last year. Dan was a very good man. Calm, giving, generous are just some of his qualities that come to mind. We will miss him very much!

I am so sorry to hear about Dan. I haven,t seen you in years as we moved away but you and Dan were great neighbors when we were on Johnson Rd. I also lost my husband (Gary) a few months ago so I feel for you what you must be going through. Time will heal, so try and stay strong, and maybe we can touch base when you are feeling up to it. You are in my thoughts.

Dan was an individual who loved life. His quiet enthusiasm was contagious.
I was lucky to be invited many, many times to dinner with Dan, Maureen, there wonderful family and friends.

I consider Dan one of the treasures in my life. I miss him and feel the world has lost a very sane voice.

We, Maureen Elston and Carol Robertson send our love and sympathy to Maureen, Scott, Zach and Daniel. We know the grandchildren and the partners of the boys have lost a great treasure that will live in their lives forever.

Dear Aunt Maureen & Cousins,
Thinking of you all at this time and sorry we won't be able to be there with you.
Uncle Dan was kind enough to bring Nanny out to our home ( we live almost 2 hrs from the City - so hardly anyone from out-of-Town gets a chance to make the trip ! ) for a visit & I was very glad my Husband got to spend some time with him too.
Warm hugs from across the miles, Niece Judith

My brother Dan was born in Halifax, the first son of the late William Ralph MacNeil and Dorothy Louise (Scott). We (his surviving siblings: Lynne Gray (Ronald), Lower Sackville, NS; Michael MacNeil (late Victoria), Aurora, Ont; Susan Brown (Wayne), Halifax, NS; Dr. Donna MacNeil (Thomas Muller), St. John, NB) will miss him, his gentle manner and unlimited assistance whenever requested by any of his family and friends. I myself (Lynne) will always be grateful for Dan’s financial help (while he was attending university on a scholarship) that made it possible for me to attend Vocational School and obtain my Secretarial Certificate. Dan was a passionate family man and has helped many other members of our families in so many ways over the years, his generosity was unlimited. Although Dan is gone from this earth, he is at peace with Mom and Dad, and will always be my Big Brother.
My Heartfelt condolences to Dan’s beloved Maureen, sons Scott, Zackary, Matt and their families. Hopefully all our happy memories will ease the sorrow of Dan’s passing. This is my favourite picture of Dan, he was 4 years old and I was almost 3, in 1947….

My memories of Dan are enjoyable. He was an amazing supportive and kind man who clearly loved his family beyond words. His dedication to the APSGO fundraiser and his love for golf never were unnoticed. A kind and caring man has been taken from us but will never be forgotten. My prayers and love are withthe family. -Elizabeth
