Born on April 21, 1946, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Eli lived a life defined by his devotion to those closest to him and a legendary sense of humour.
He was the beloved husband of Carmelita Smith, with whom he shared many years of partnership and affection. Eli was a proud and guiding father to his three children: Melanie (Raul), Jason (Melissa), and Andrew (Nellma). His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he will be deeply missed by Aidan, Ethan, Nathanial, and Connor.
He is survived by his sisters and their families: Linda Critch, wife of the late Austin, and their daughter Michele; and Trudy McEvoy (PJ), and their children Brian and Stephen. Eli now goes to join his brothers, Allen (father of Sara and Derek) and Percy (father of Adam, Andy, and Lisa), in eternal rest.
Eli was known for being a truly kind and patient soul. He had a quick wit and was famously known for his one-liners and having the best "dad jokes," always ready to bring a smile or a laugh to those around him.
He will be remembered as a man of character and a steady presence in the lives of his family and friends. His warmth, kindness, and humor will live on in the stories and jokes told by those who knew him best. We will miss him and he will be remembered forever.
