Flora Jacoba Cornelia Nydam

Flora Jacoba Cornelia Nydam (Liefhebber), in her 81st year, of Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, with her family by her side. Despite a valiant struggle and tremendous strength put forth by Flora and the best efforts of the doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook and Southlake Hospitals, treatment was unsuccessful.

Born October 25, 1945, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Flora was the daughter of Jan and Adriana Liefhebber. When she was seven, she moved with her parents and older sister, Louise, to Aurora, Ontario, where she graduated from Aurora High School in 1964. She completed one year at York University, devoted herself to raising her children, and later built a valued career as a Library Technician—work well suited to a life marked by quiet dedication and a deep respect for life, learning, and books.

From an early age, Flora found joy in the natural world, especially horses, and over time she held a special affection for foxes and donkeys as well. Her love of architecture, design, and gardening, notably of historic properties, was reflected in her thoughtful attention to home and place. Among her most meaningful accomplishments was her studied contribution to the design and aesthetics of the buildings, gardens, and trails of her home, Foxhall Farm—an enduring expression of care, discernment, and an eye for beauty.

Flora will be remembered as an avid reader and collector, someone whose steady curiosity and appreciation for ideas were part of daily life.

Flora is survived by her loving and caring husband, Bill. She was a dedicated mother to Todd (Patricia) and Jennifer (Jason Wilson), and a cherished grandma to Alysia and Lauren. She will be deeply missed by her nephew, Paul Davies, and her grandnephews, Nathan and Zachary Davies. Also mourning her passing are Bill’s family and her friends.

Flora was predeceased by her niece, Natalie, her aunt, Flora, and her sister, Louise.
