BROKEN CHAIN
We knew that morning that
God was going to call your name
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone,
for part of us went with you
the day He called you Home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST
God saw that you were getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So he put His arms around you
and whispered, “Come with me.”
And tearful eyes, we watched you suffer,
And saw you fade away,
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes “the best”.
DAD
Your time had come to leave us
And we had to say goodbye
Just like the sun rests gently down
On a tranquil evening sky
I still hear the sound of your voice
As the wind blows through the trees
As though it’s floating on forever
Upon a gently breeze
I still see your face in places
I know how strange it seems
And the clouds paint out your picture
When I see you in my dreams
My eyes can’t hold back the tears
Like the skies can’t hold the rain
And I’m longing for the day to come
When we will meet again
The Moment That you Left Me
My heart split in two. One side filled
with memories, the others side died with you.
I often lay awake at night when the world
is fast asleep, and take a walk down
memory lane with tears upon my cheek.
REMEMBERING
you is easy, I do it everyday;
but missing you is heartache that
never goes away. I hold you
tightly within my heart and there you will remain. You
see, life has gone on without you, but it
will never be the same.
A poem from the 12th Century- Judah Halevi of Rome
Tis a fearful thing
To love
What death can touch.
To love, to hope, to dream,
And oh, to lose.
A think for fools, this,
Love,
But a holy thing,
To love what death can touch.
For your life has lived in me;
Your laugh once lifted me;
Your word was a gift to me.
To remember this brings
painful joy.
“Tis a human think, love,
A holy thing.
To love
What death can touch.
Family Tree
A limb has fallen from the family tree
I hear a voice that whispers, “Grieve not for me’
Remember the good times, the laughter, the songs
The good I lived while I was strong
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you
Keep on smiling, the sun will shine through
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest
Remembering all…how I was truly blessed
Continue traditions, not matter how small
Go on with your lives, don’t stare at the wall
I miss you all dearly so keep up your chin
Until that fine day when we’re together again.
Memories of you Dad
It’s been the hardest thing to lose you,
You meant so much to me
But you are in my heart Dad
And that’s where you’ll always be
I know that Heaven called you
But I wish you could have stayed
At least the memories I have of you
They will never fade
I did not want to lose you
But you did not go alone
Because part of me went with you
When Heaven called you Home
So just remember one thing
We are not apart
You’re with me in my memories
And in my broken heart
HERO
You held my hand when I was small
You caught me when I fell
You are the hero of my childhood
And my later years as well
And every time I think of you
My heart still fills with pride
Though I will always miss you Dad
I know you’re by my side
In laughter and in sorrow
In sunshine an in rain
I know you’re watching over me
Until we meet again
