It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Jean Buchanan peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021 in her 99th year after a long battle with Dementia. Jean was the devoted wife of the late Hugh, or Bucky as she called him (November 14, 1920 – February 11, 1991), proud mother of Jennifer (Luis) and proud grandmother to Jaclyn (Kyle) and Michael (Catarina).
Jean was born on June 15, 1922 to William and Jean Minty, in Aberdeen Scotland, and was an excellent scholar and employee until she was summed to service in the RAF in 1941. It was there that she met her future husband, married October 15, 1947 and immigrated to Canada in 1948 to settled in Toronto. They moved to their home in Thornhill in 1952 and remained there until they retired in Aurora in 1989. Jean was an avid reader, dancer and never missed the opportunity to travel. In declining health, she moved to Park Place Manor in 2007, Hollandview Trail Retirement home in 2009 until March of this year when a bad fall affected her ability to walk. Her remaining days where at Aurora Resthaven.
We would like to thank the caring staff and volunteers at Park Place Manor, Hollandview Trail and Aurora Resthaven for the love and care they showed Jean over many years.
