I was shocked and saddened to learn of Joan’s recent passing. I met Joan when I joined the Aurora Seniors Centre Book Club.  Joan was such a lovely and giving person and I enjoyed every moment I spent with her over the years. I have a hand painted Christmas card that Joan sent me a few years ago that includes a very thoughtful note that I keep on my mantle displayed throughout the year. One of Joan’s painting's is on display in the Library of the ASC and I enjoy seeing it every time I visit.  My heartfelt condolences go out to Joan’s family during this difficult time. Love and miss you Joan.

Joan was such an important part of the Evergreen Choir for so many years. She had a beautiful voice. Her piano paying was always put to good use at our (then) annual pot luck dinners. She would play and we would sing. Unfortunately she had to bow out of the choir when her eyes became difficult for her to read the choir's music. I also remember her little dog and Joan and I would chat when walking our dogs in the Jubilee Park. My condolences to her family.

I loved seeing Joan in choir, she was a wonderful soprano and such a happy person.  She always had a smile every time I would see her in choir.  I will truly miss Joan, what a wonderful soul.  Even when I was quite new to the choir, she was always a welcoming person.

So sorry to hear of Joan's passing. I haven't seen her, probably since before COVID.  We sang in the Evergreen choir together. I especially remember her playing the piano at our end-of-year pot luck dinners.  So much fun! 
Such a large, and beautiful , family she leaves behind.  My sympathies to all of you. May she rest in peace.

I’m very sad to hear of Aunt Joan’s passing. Although many years have passed since I saw her last, I have only positive memories of her. I have known Joan for a very short time, but it was quality time. She was my next door neighbor when she lived in the condo in Aurora.
We shared a love of music, especially the good old songs. Many times she sat at her baby grand piano and we would sing our hearts out. Together we traveled to Holland to see Andre Rieu in concert.  What fun we had.  We spent time at her cottage playing games, talking but mostly laughing.
She was so knowledgeable, talented and fun to be with.
Joan, I love you and miss you.  Rest in peace my dear friend.

Lorraine Tseretopoulos

Joan grew up  in Peterborough with her siblings Nancy, John, Sara and Gord. 
She started raising her young family there before making the big move to Aurora. Here she settled in with the community and her many friends. Joan loved art and spent a lot of time at her local studio Kingcraft honing her talent. Joan loved music and was a member in standing with the Sweet Adeline’s singing group travelling around sharing the joy of music. Travel became a big part of Joan’s life from visiting friends in Hawaii to cruising through the Mediterranean and down to small villages in Mexico. Most of these trips brought about beautiful pieces of art that many family members and friends now have displayed in their homes. I loved sitting with Joan enjoying a cup of tea and one of the many treats she made for me enjoy. Joan had an incredible impact on so many lives and she will be greatly missed.

My sincerest condolences for the loss of your beloved mother Joan. She was a lovely person. I have many memories of her smiling face and friendly welcome to me and all of Shelley's friends when we came to visit. It was such an important time in our young lives and Joan was a lovely part of it. May she rest in peace and her spirit continue to live on in her beautiful paintings.

Joan was our favourite neighbour for many years. She and Georgie could often be seen out for walks or reading the paper on the back deck. 
We regularly heard Joan playing her baby grand.
