Memories of a dear father
I remember how dad was always dressed so well; suit and tie were the normal attire. I remember all his funky ties and how excited he was every fathers day when I gave him yet again another tie clip. I remember him even cutting the lawn in his dress shoes........and I don't think I ever saw him in denim.
I remember his favourite expressions such as "buxtehude" and "sopralaloti". But mostly I remember "hocus pocus" and the famous watermelon act.
I remember his organizational skills, list making, memory of facts and numbers, people and places.  I remember his incredible mathematical skills and his wealth of knowledge. His pleasure in history, geography and love of travel. He introduced me to the mountains and the desert which I also enjoy greatly. I remember as a small child, each of us receiving our own postcard with personalized messages from him regarding his travels. Oh how excited we would be to get our own letter in the mail. He was always punctual too and I drove him crazy as he waited for me as I was always late. I remember his love of sport and hometown teams. I can still see him on the couch, as he watched his favourite Toronto Maple Leafs or Blue Jays.I remember his soft spot for animals and hiding a stray cat in the garage. Before we knew it that cat was inside our home. I remember his catch and release of spiders and lady bugs. Always returning them to mother nature unharmed. I remember his interest in our lives and especially his grandchildren.  I remember the twinkle in his eye when he looked at mom as he was recovering in the hospital. I remember his deep love for his family.......and how he made sure everyone was well looked after.       I will always remember you dad and love and thank you for everything.  Love your Susie

I am so blessed to have so many beautiful memories of my Opa to cherish. He was an incredible man; a business man, a historian, and a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Opa cared deeply for his family and friends. He was always interested in our lives and pushed us all to succeed and be happy. Opa had a passion for numbers and was a wealth of knowledge. Opa amazed us with his accurate and detailed stories which will forever live on in my heart.
