I am a student at ORPS and Mrs. Stephenson was my 2009-2010 Grade 4 teacher.  I was very lucky to have Mrs. Stephenson as a teacher.  She was a very passionate and enthusiastic teacher who always encouraged us to do better in everything we did.  She taught us the importance of family and always spoke of her 4 children and how proud she was of their accomplishments.  She also taught us the importance of helping people in need and last year when my two friends and I approached Mrs. Stephenson in hopes that she would support us in raising money to help the people of Haiti, Mrs. Stephenson, without hesitation, took initiative and assisted us in what resulted in a very successful fundraising event.  Thank you Mrs. Stephenson.  You will always be remembered as one of my most inspirational teachers.  God bless you.

How shocked and saddened I was to hear of Karen's passing. My heart goes out to you and you family, Bob.  Karen always impressed me as a nuturing, sensitive,  kind and fun person. She would take up any fun suggestion and roll with it. We had lots of fun growing up together over 10 years at Branksome. I have no doubt that she was a gifted mother and teacher and has left meaningful impressions on those she touched. Be proud of those gifts she left us.

To the Stephenson/Northey family, I want to express my sincerest and deepest condolences.  I was a classmate and friend of Karen's at Branksome Hall and am shocked to hear of her passing.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I can't believe this, I woke up to a text msg about the news this morning.  My condolences to her family. Mrs. Stephenson was my grade 7 teacher. She was much more than a teacher, in the class room she was like a mother to us all. One of the people who inspired me to be where I am today. My favourite teacher, and truly wonderful human being. I will never forget her. My thoughts are with her family.

My heartfelt wishes to the family. I worked with Karen at ORPS, and distinctly remember her supporting a student initiated fund-raiser because she wanted the kids to believe in helping others.  God bless her legacy. Lianne Joiner

I saw her in recent years at a reunion and she remained the same.  The Northey/Stephenson families will be in my thoughts and prayers.

What a wonderful, absolutely amazing person she was. She was able to break through Lee's learning difficulties and help him become the good adult he is today. Without Karen's help Lee would still be struggling today. Thank you Karen for your devoted attention to Lee and for making learning understood by him.  Kaaren was a very devoted teacher and amazing individual.  She will be missed by many.

I have many good memories of Karen and myself as children.  Since we were the same age our mothers liked to dress us as twins.  Karen was always good to go for whatever mischief I could create.
