It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the tragic passing of Lee William Broadbent at his home in Kirkfield, Ontario on August 21, 2025, at the age of 63. A native of North York, Ontario, Lee excelled in athletics at George Vanier Secondary School by competing in wrestling. After receiving a scholarship from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Lee travelled the world dominating his weight class in wrestling, Lee was so dedicated to his wrestling career that he could be seen running 5 miles around the neighbourhood, on the hottest summer days, wearing a black garbage bag as a jumpsuit, just to qualify for his matches. He eventually went on to work in construction and became a foreman for Green Park in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Lee later retired to enjoy the splendor of nature and lake life in the country up north.
Lee loved music and often played guitar and sang for friends and family. He was an avid film buff and especially loved horror and comedy films. He adored the companionship of animals, caring for many cats and German Shepards over the years. In the early 90’s he even had a half Wolf/ half German Shepard named Georgie Girl, who would chase bears up trees and was a vigilant defender of Lee’s 37 -acre northern property. Lee had a very witty and quick sense of humor and was known for his big heart and charismatic personality.
Lee was predeceased by his mother, Louisa (Lucy) Broadbent and three brothers, Ralph Broadbent, Alan Broadbent and Stephen Broadbent as well as his wife Marilyn Price- Broadbent. Lee now joins his beloved family in heaven and is survived by his eldest daughter Riley Broadbent, his younger two daughters, Donna Broadbent and Emmalee Broadbent and his youngest and only son William Broadbent.
