It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margie due to lung disease. Her journey ended peacefully on March 19, 2016 at the age of 71 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket. Margie was cherished and will be deeply missed by her husband Bruce, daughter Kristy, and son-in-law Chris. Margie handled her diagnosis like she handled life - head on and with amazing strength, positivity, and gusto. She was born on June 9, 1944 in Windsor and often told stories of the fun and adventures she experienced while growing up in Windsor and Point Pelee, and of her time at Patterson Collegiate. Joyful years were spent in Thornhill and Unionville with family and many wonderful friends and neighbours. Throughout her working life, the positions she held were diverse but she was always appreciated for her skills and intelligence. Working with the Big Sisters of York Region was a highlight of her career. In her later years, she found peace in the tranquil village of Bayfield and within the community at the Knox Presbyterian Church. Margie was a master in the kitchen and the life of the party at the many gatherings she hosted. Her open, welcoming nature brought people together. She is described by friends as outgoing, fun-loving, and a leader. Margie will also be remembered for her quick-witted humour, gift of the gab, and her vibrant spirit. Margie is predeceased by her mother Flora, father Ernest, and brother Ernie and is survived by her sisters Flo (Bob) and Mary. She left a lasting impression on her nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of Margie’s life to be held on April 16th from 1-4pm at St. Andrew’s Valley Golf Course, 4 Pinnacle Trail, Aurora. For those who wish, donations can be made to Friends of Point Pelee or Knox Presbyterian Church in Bayfield.
