Dear Maury,

So glad for all the extra memories we made this past year, surprising you at the hospital (the look on your face when we walked in the door was priceless)! The summer drive to the cottage, pictures on the beach, Niagara on the Lake and the outlet mall on the way home.  Best of all, bringing you to Bowling Green for a week in the fall.  After driving 12 hours in the car, you had me at the mall the following two days from 10-3:00 p.m. and wore me out!  We went back and forth on the "red" Michael Kors boots and purse but when you put it together with the cream coat, pants and red gloves, you looked like a million bucks.  I told you it was a Christmas present to yourself! I miss you terribly but take peace in knowing you are with Mom and Dad and that Mom has her best friend back with her. I love you with all my heart...

I just found out today about Maureen's passing.  I am so truly sad and would like to express our deepest condolences to her family.  I also speak on behalf of my sister Gloria Holbrook.  She was my eldest sister Helen's best friend for many years and fortunately they became reconnected prior to Helen's passing 2 years ago. It was then that we got to know Maureen again.  Maureen was an amazing woman, kind, loving and inspirational. I (we) shall miss her so very much. Val Pordage and my other sister gloria.

Marueen can certainly say she fought the good fight to the very end, and she and her children and grandchildren can know that she is missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know her.  I am very glad that I got to see her gracious smile during her last visit to Bowling green.  Rest in Peace dear Lady.

Dear Grammy,

Thank you for not giving up all those years ago so that you could take care of your son and help him grow into man that I love so passionately, for not giving up so that I could have the fortune of being part of your family, finding a forever friend, and giving me another mother to cherish, for not giving up so you could meet your grandchildren that would fall in love with you over and over again every time they saw you. Thank you for teaching me what it means to be strong and brave and most of all what it means to love so much that nothing else matters. I will miss our long phone calls, our shopping trips and afternoon tea.  I will take care of your son and grandchildren for you, an now it's my turn to tell you not to worry. Although my heart feels broken I will be strong and brave and I will love, because when I look at your son, your granddaughter, and your grandson I will see you, and I know then nothing else matters.
