May Bessford Butler

We announce the peaceful and unexpected passing of an amazing woman May Butler on Sunday June 7, 2026. Devoted mother to Jane Greig (Robert Greig, predeceased), Bonny Butler, Chris Butler, and Mark Butler (Susan Langstone).

May Bessford Cartwright was born May 1, 1933 and lived on to the young age of 93 in her home in Aurora.

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of May Bessford Cartwright.

May was a loving grandmother to Rob, Tammy, Steven, Lisa, Jennifer, Eric, a great-grandmother to Wendel, Skylar, Josh, Tory, Cadden, Ryder, Carter, Jackson and great, great grandmother Charleigh, Kinsleigh, Presleigh, Payton, Paisley. Devoted friend whose love for family knew no bounds. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren each of whom held a special place in her heart.

As a daycare provider, May cared for countless children over the years, sharing her kindness, patience, and gentle guidance. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people feel welcome and loved.

Her warmth, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
