OBITUARY

Pat Zaino

9 April, 196528 March, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Pat, treasured husband of Gina, cherished son of Bianca and Bruno, wonderful brother of Paula and Tony, and a positive nurturing role model for nephews Matthew and Daniel.

On March 28, 2020, at the age of 54, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Newmarket, Pat passed away peacefully. We are comforted in knowing that he is now at peace with the Lord after fighting this relentless disease.

Pat was a man of strong morals and values, highly spiritual and God-loving, compassionate, an inspiration to so many and taught others how to live life with a smile and remember to never give up no matter what life throws your way.

Despite what he was going through medically, Pat maintained a healthy sense of humour and large doses of positivity, always taking on challenges with strength and tenacity. He was often called the salt of the earth.

Pat was always there to lend a hand if anyone needed help and never expected anything in return. He was an energetic man full of life who loved to hunt, snowmobile, bowl, fish, and was forever dedicated to his Montreal Canadiens. He also loved his food – Italian pastas and meats, Filipino dishes and sushi.

Pat will be sorely missed by everyone, but his legacy will live on. Given the current situation, we are unable to have a proper funeral at this time. We are planning to have a celebration of his life at a later date. If family and friends so desire, it was Pat’s wish that memorial tributes be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Prostate Cancer).

To my dearest cousin who was like a brother to me,
Since you left us, we will never be the same, and that's okay, where there was much love, we know there is much pain & grief.
We believe you are in peace and always with us.
All we need to do is close our eyes and think of you, and share the beautiful stories we remember so fondly. You lived life with so much love and pride and happiness, everyone was your friend and cherished your relationship.
You have become a memory we can hold onto forever.
You have special place in heaven and we will meet again. You will always be in our hearts, and always with us. Love ya cuz, thank you for being you and allowing me to share in your life’s journey on earth. ❤️ until we meet again, ciao for now

Pat was a great person of quiet strength and perseverance. I remember the time he dropped in to hunt turkey in our field. He bought us a bottle of grappa and some curried wild game meat. We sat on the deck talking for hours sharing a drink, eating and laughing. He never did get a turkey, I will always remember that day. He loved life and lived every moment of it. Rest in peace Pat you will be missed . ❤️🙏🏻💐🦃

I met Pat in grade school and reconnected with him at a reunion 3 years ago. We’ve had quite a few breakfasts, get togethers and coffees since then. Pat spoke passionately of his family, his hunting and his snowmobiling adventures. His zest for life, positive attitude and his willingness to help others are only a few of his amazing qualities. It was such a pleasure reconnecting with him after all those years. What stands out most for me is Pat’s smile. It will be forever etched in my mind. I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Gina and Pat’s family. I hope the beautiful memories you have of Pat carry you through this difficult time. He will be truly missed.
