Robert Edward Smereka

Robert Edward Smereka died June 27, 2026 at Southlake Hospital. He is survived by his mother Virginia, sisters Karen and Susan and brothers-in-law Jamie Campbell and Kevin Donegan. He is also survived by his many friends in Aurora who gave an outpouring of love and support when he went into the hospital.

Robert was a fun loving person who found unique ways to connect with people from all walks of life. He was able to befriend anyone, anywhere, make them feel seen and bring out their joy. If you were in Robert’s circle, he was loyal and helpful whenever needed. Underneath his incredible sense of humour that united us all in laughter was a tender heart. He loved a good time and lived his life to the fullest.

He loved music and went to many, many concerts with a wide variety of friends over the years. He was an excellent golfer and skier and a keen fisherman. He enjoyed good food and wine. His dislike of Google Maps came up frequently as Robert had a desire to be spontaneous and get lost.

His last years were spent being the primary caregiver for our mother. This was an act of compassion and love for Mom, who wanted to stay at home, and for his sisters who lived a distance away. Thank you, Robert. You will be missed by all.
