Ron always looked like he was surprised and delighted by whatever was going on, and most particularly by Barb. 

Dear Barb, Sara, Kiri, and Bradley,
My deepest sympathy and prayers to each of you!  I'm so sorry to hear of Ron's passing!  I pray that the Holy Spirit would be your Comforter and Strengthener in these next days and months.  With many wonderful memories of all of you and our time together at St. John's!  I bless each of you, and will continue to pray for more of God's Presence and Provision.

I have known Ron for my whole career at Coast Paper and Spicers. When you look up the word integrity in the dictionary his picture would appear. Ron was always upbeat no matter the situation.  When you left his shop you always had a smile on your face from an upbeat conversation or funny joke.  
I will miss those moments when visiting the shop.

Dear Barbara and family, I was so sorry to see Ron's obituary in the Globe today.   I hold you all in my heart as you say your final 'goodbye' to Ron, a much loved husband, father and grandfather.  It has been a while since we shared in the bible study group with Judy, Marg, Penelope and yourself.  Such formative times and good memories.

I will miss Mr. Peat's face lighting up when he opened the door and greeted us - whether it was on Jefferson or on Island Lake. His greeting always made us feel so happy, welcomed, loved. He had a great laugh and his smile took over his whole face. We will miss him ;( 

Dear Barbara and Family.

Our hearts go out to you and we are sorry that you are going through such a terrible loss. Ron was a kind and happy person to be with, and his friendship will be greatly missed.

In these moments of loss and sadness we can’t help but to reflect on what’s important in life; friendships,  happy events, and reaching milestones. We pray that the wonderful moments you shared with Ron remain in your heart and lift you forward as you mourn his passing.

The last words I heard Ron say were "Blessings on the Family". I am quite sure he meant all of us -extended bunch. Ron was an all inclusive guy
Whether  playing with his grandchildren, standing guard over his own children, celebrating with the family, or grieving with us... he always had your back....

Ron was a kind man, quick to smile.  He will be truly missed by those who were lucky to have known him.  My heartfelt sympathy to Barb and his children for his loss.

For Barbara, Sara, Kiri, Bradley and the extended family we have met through the years, we offer our most sincere condolences on the passing of Ron.  We are truly saddened by this news.
Although he may have been unwell, no one is really ready for the finality of death of your loved one. And yes we know, memories will sustain us in the long term, right now you just want to clinge to each other within this deep loss. 
Barbara, you used to measure the growth of your new  seedlings on Jefferson. I wondered why you did that. I realize that you knew how every small step can lead to a strong final tree with many sturdy branches. So too I think it was with Ron- he lived the small (and big) steps of his life with you & his family in a  measured, natural way.  Your family is the strong growth that made him proud and his legacy.  For me,  I can still see his smile at every hello, hear the laughter over the fence and see him riding the lawnmower or sitting by the pond! Hugs to all 


Sadly the lives of loved ones end, but thankfully the memories they've gifted us with live forever. And I have been blessed with so many wonderful memories of Papa Renaldo. You may be asking yourself why I call him that, and I think of all the memories I have this might just be my favourite one of all. It was a few years back, but I remember it like it was yesterday. It was Father's Day and Sara had invited me to join she and her family for a BBQ to celebrate her dad. Of course I said yes because since the passing of my own father, Father's Day had always been a sad reminder of what I had lost. But not on this particular day. Somehow Sara's dad sensed a sadness in me because when I excused myself to refill my water (or at least that's what I told them) he met me with a warm hug and the most heartfelt words. Words I'll never forget as long as I live! "Kelly ...he said ... I know I could never replace your own father, but if you'll let me I'd like to be there for you when you need one." Of course I said "I'd love that" as I wiped away the tears. And from that moment on he would always be Papa Renaldo to me! Both he and Mama Barbara will always be family in my eyes and in my heart, and I will forever be grateful for that day and all the days I was blessed to know and share his beautiful soul ❤️
