June 8, 1930 - November 25, 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather Tom Davey, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Tom was born in Lancashire England and served in the Royal Air Force Police. In his mid twenties, he immigrated to Canada, where he joined the Toronto Police Force. Shortly after marrying his wife Sandra (nee Turner), Tom turned to his true passion of writing. Throughout his long career Tom distinguished himself as a writer, communicator, and a champion of environmental issues. He authored three books, and in 1988, co-launched Environmental Science & Engineering Magazine.
Tom is survived by his wife Sandra, daughter Penny, son Steve (Colleen) and grandsons, Peter and Mark Davey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Elginwood Long Term Care Home in Richmond Hill , and especially his caregiver Geraldine, for their compassion and care during Tom’s stay there.
Visitation will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, (905)727-5421 on Friday December 5, 2014 from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 6 at 11am in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Tom to the Alzheimer's Society of Ontario. www.alzheimer.ca/en/on
