Vera Lorraine Wilson

Vera will be lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law: Stephen (Carla), Brad (Jackie), and Judy (Late son Bryan’s wife). She also leaves behind her four dear grandsons, Ryan, Brandon, Brett, and Adam; her sisters-in-law, Marguerite (Toronto) and Merleen (Jacksonville, Florida); and many friends. Vera was predeceased by her loving husband, Don; her oldest son, Bryan; and her brothers-in-law, Don, George, Herb, and his wife Anne.

Over the years, Vera worked at Scanlon Bakery, the Library, and also helped out at Wells Street school. She later stepped away from the working world to raise and care for her three children, a commitment carried out with steady devotion and quiet strength.

Vera and Don shared a deep enjoyment of travel, journeying to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Spain, and England, to name a few. For two people who had developed motion sickness, it would be surprising to imagine them boarding a ship—yet they did so many times, including a 20- and a 30-day European cruise, as well as several Riverboat Cruises.

As the years passed, they became more comfortable spending winter months in Florida, surrounded by friends and family. When the drive became too much, they turned their attention to a new paradise—Barbados—returning for many years and meeting up with the same friends annually. Sadly, their last trip was in 2018, though they continued to carry the memories of “The Club” with them.

In quieter moments, Vera found contentment in watching tennis, golf, and her beloved Blue Jays on television, or simply curling up with a good book.
