Violet Evelyn Schmidt

Violet Evelyn Schmidt, age 89 of Aurora, Ontario, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario. She was born August 6, 1936 in Beaverton, Ontario to the late James and Violet Will.

Evelyn graduated high school and furthered her education at The Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology (The Key to Secretarial and Management Effectiveness). She also attended Canada Business College (General Business) where she attained the highest Honours of the Institution. She was able to apply these skills to her career with the Post Office in Beaverton and again, to her position with Baxter Laboratories in Alliston.

Evelyn loved to read, knit and crochet. Over the years new born nieces and nephews received one, as well as friends and neighbours. She was a kind and caring gal, witty, a bright light in family, friends and neighbour’s lives.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, James and Violet Will, husband of 60+ years - George Schmidt, sister Elsie Rodd and brother-in -law Fred Rodd, nephew Jim Rodd and niece Doris Speedie.

She is survived by her niece Donna Gutteridge and husband John; niece Dianne Cox and husband Jim; nephew-in-law Bryan Speedie; and many great, & great, great nieces and nephews.

The family invite you to join them for a Celebration of Evelyn's Life at Thompson Funeral Home, located at 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON, L4G 6W8, Canada, on December 6, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with Words of Remembrance being shared at 1:00 pm.

Evelyn's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and residence at Chartwell Hollandview Trail, Aurora for the care and companionship that they gave her over the years.
