It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. William Fetherston. Bill was the beloved husband of Denise for 28 years they were blessed with an extraordinary relationship. He was a devoted father of Mike, Peter, Billy (Jennifer) and Dave, whom he loved with great devotion. He was the loving grandfather of Delilah, Taylor, Kennedy, and Isla.
He will be greatly missed by his siblings; Ann Fetherston (Richard Davis), Tom (Fanny), Kathleen Fetherston, Maureen (Mike McCann), Laurie Gaffney Fetherston, Joan (Jon Grant). Dr. Bill was also the beloved uncle of Abby, Juliette, Rodney, Jack, Matt, Thomas, Roy, Annie, Francis, Ellis, Russell and Calie.
Dr. Bill was a widely beloved doctor who for years faithfully served the people of Aurora and Newmarket and worked tirelessly in the Emergency Room at Southlake Regional Health Center, local nursing homes, and who even carried out house calls for the local people who needed his expertise.
He was a very devoted friend to so many. He always made time for his friends, especially the small gang he travelled with to Europe, the Islands, and various other golf excursions. He loved family “get togethers” – the bigger and louder, the better. He loved his close buddies at the cottage on Georgian Bay where they would often meet on the waterfront to watch sunsets together. Dr. Bill was an avid reader – again, the bigger the book, the better. Although he did not like being the center of attention, he loved people and was most content to simply be among them. Moreover, he was a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Dr. Bill was especially devoted to his mother Lillian and his father, Gordon, spending as much time with them as possible before they were simply too old to travel. He took them to the cottage every year until they were unable to travel any longer. He would move heaven and earth to get them to wherever they wanted to go – there is no doubt that Bill had an especially soft spot for his mother, Lillian. Overall, Dr. Bill loved life and he loved people. He will be deeply missed by the people of Aurora and Newmarket whose lives were made so much richer as a result of his devotion to their health and well-being.
