William Peter Sanders passed peacefully the morning of February 6, 2026 at his residence. He was born November 19,1933 in Hammersmith London, the son of William Henry and Marie Elizabeth, brother to Marie (Fred).
He is survived by his two children, Jacqueline Redmond (Mark) and Mark Sanders (Diane), his four grandchildren, Chelsea (Luc), Spencer (Miranda), Jackson, and Maggie, and a great grandson Cillian. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Jeanette.
He grew up in London England where he lived through the blitz and could tell many stories of wartime as a child. He began his education in engineering and joined the RAF to do his national service. He met Jeanette at an officer's ball and it was, as he described it, love at first sight.
William's career as a steam turbine engineer took him from England, to Sweden, New York State and finally, Canada. He would eventually start his own business and travelled the world consulting and teaching. He was the author of multiple text books and held several patents related to steam turbines. He loved sharing his knowledge and was passionate about his profession. William’s career took him to many countries and he was always ready to share stories of adventure with his grandchildren.
Outside of work, he was a lifetime Queens Park Rangers fan and an avid reader of history and archeology. He spent many decades training in Karate with his close friend Quai Wong, obtaining his sixth degree black belt and started a school at the YMCA during his time in the US. His legacy of knowledge is carried by all those he taught in engineering and karate.
He will be remembered by all for his great British sense of humour and strength of character.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
