Gloria Ann Merritt Sartin passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020. She was born October 23, 1936, in Austin, Texas, to Jerry Presler Merritt and Ethel Ellen Curry. Gloria was one of five children. She grew up in different parts of Texas and eventually graduated from Travis High School in Austin. She met the love of her life, Doyle Sartin, and they were married on September 3, 1955. They settled in Austin and bought a house on Slaughter Lane where they raised their two boys, Drew and Darren. Gloria worked various jobs throughout her adult life while taking care of her family. Doyle and Gloria were true believers and always active in the Baptist churches they attended in South Austin. Doyle and Gloria were married 54 years before Doyle passed away in 2009. Gloria moved to Cobblestone Courts where she would live her final years. Gloria loved her family more than anything and truly cherished all the times with them. Gloria became ill in late 2019 and passed away on January 24, 2020. She has been reunited in Heaven with Doyle, other family and friends and they are rejoicing together again. Gloria is survived by her two sons, Darren and his wife Deanna Sartin, and Drew Sartin. Three grandchildren, Trevor, Garett and Victoria Sartin. Sister Lucille Johnson, sister-in-law Patsy Young. And lots of cousins, nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, 10am at Austin517 Church, 1007 W. Dittmar, Austin 78745.
A special thanks to the great people at New Century Hospice and West Oak rehab center who helped Gloria through her last few months.
