Leopoldo Olivares Torres passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2020 at age 76. Leopoldo was born June 14th, 1943 in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. His father, Leopoldo Olivares Sr and mother Amabilia Olivares. He was the oldest of five children, Jose Ignacio, Jose Luis, Amabilia II, and Patricia. He received his Bachelors Degree from the Technologico de Monterrey. He continued his studies at Southern Illinois University and Babson College.
He moved his family, wife, Rosario Olivares, and 2 children, Leopoldo III and Gabriela from Mexico in the summer of 1980 to Austin, Texas working as a Manufacturing Manager for Data General. That winter they had another daughter, Amy. For the next 10 years, the family moved around following his professional advancements. They moved from Texas to Massachusetts, Colorado, and settled back to Massachusetts for 8 years. He was a very hardworking man, smart man. In 2002, he and his wife moved back to Austin, Texas to be closer to his children.
He is survived by his wife, Rosario Olivares, his son Leopoldo Olivares and his wife Lisa and their children Leopoldo IV and Cecilia. His daughter, Gabriela, her husband, Jorge and her sons, Manuel, Santhi and Luis. His youngest daughter Amy, her husband William and her son William III.
Leopoldo was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. They kept him young at heart. He loved pancakes and strawberry icecream, especially late at night. He had a real sweet tooth. In true Texas fashion he loved BBQ and a great steak, well done. You could always find him working on his lawn on the weekends. His favorite memories included Christmas with his family, as he was the best Santa, and trips to the beach with his toes in the sand. He loved the New England Patriots and the Arizona State Sun Devils. Leopoldo was the pillar of his family. There was nothing he valued more.
